ABC Cop Drama Rookie Blue Cancelled After Six Seasons

They’ve closed down the precinct of “Rookie Blue,” as ABC has axed the cop drama starring Missy Peregrym and Gregory Smith after six seasons.

The Canadian-produced series has been a summer staple on ABC. The show’s most recent season on ABC was its lowest rated to date. In Canada, the series has aired on Global TV.

“Rookie Blue” hails from Shaw Media, Thump, Inc., Canwest, Ilana C. Frank Films and Entertainment One. It was created by Tassie Cameron, Morwyn Brebner and Ellen Vanstone.

“On behalf of the whole Rookie Blue family, thank you to all the fans for your dedication over the last six years,” said Frank. “After six fun and dramatic seasons, our story has come to its natural close. Alongside you all, it has been our privilege to watch [Missy Peregrym’s character,] Andy McNally develop from a young rookie to a distinguished officer. Frank and eOne recently extended their relationship with a three-year overall deal. Under the contract, eOne will serve as the studio, deficit financier and distributor on all of Frank’s projects across all media.
