Police in Cirencester are appealing to the community for information after a robbery on Thursday evening.
It happened at around 7pm as a 17-year-old boy from South Cerney was walking along the Old Railway Track off the Queen Elizabeth Road, when someone approached him from behind and struck him on the back of the head.
The offender then pointed a knife at the victim and asked him to hand over his property. The teenager gave him his Blackberry mobile phone and around £8 in cash before the offender ran from the scene.
The teenager was not injured with the knife but suffered a minor injury to his head, which did not require medical treatment.
The offender was described as having a northern accent, was white and in his early to mid 20s. He is thought to be between 5ft 12” and 6ft tall and was wearing a dark coloured bobble hat, a ¾ length black zip up coat and dark blue jeans.
Inspector Brian Clifford said: “Immediately following the report of the incident officers went to the area and carried out a search, but unfortunately no one has yet been located.
“We would encourage anyone who was in the area yesterday evening that may have seen someone matching the above description to give us a ring if they have not already spoken to our officers.
“We understand that this incident will be of concern to local residents and we would reassure them that knife crimes are low in the Cirencester area and that we will be carrying out a thorough investigation to find the individual involved and bring them to justice.”
Anyone with any information about the robbery is asked to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident number 390 of December 15.
