Stage and TV Actress Jennifer Rae Beck Dead at 44

Jennifer Rae Beck, the actress who appeared in stage musicals including “Les Miserables” and co-starred in a TV-movie version of “Gypsy,” died Aug. 8 after a long battle with breast cancer, according to a spokesperson for her family. She was 44.

Rae Beck played Eponine in the national tour of “Les Miserables,” as well as in the Asian premiere of “Les Miz” and in the Los Angeles staging. She also appeared in a national tour of “Evita” and in a revival of “Fiddler on the Roof” on Broadway.

On TV she played June in the 1993 television movie version of “Gypsy” that starred Bette Midler and appeared on shows including “Law & Order,” “One Life to Live” and “Conviction.”

In 2007 she opened a vintage store in New Jersey called Chalk Farm Home, which survived as an online business after she moved to L.A. She also operated an Etsy story under the same name.

Her personal life included a marriage to Jack Tantleff, now the head the theater department at talent agency Paradigm. She is survived by her husband, Ian Owen-Ward, and three children.
