Helmed spots for Frosted Flakes, Schlitz malt liquor, Glad
Theodore (Ted) Arthur Goetz, a director and producer of television commercials, died from melanoma in Encinitas, Calif., on July 15. He was 84.
Goetz spent years as executive producer at FilmFair in Studio City, Calif., directing and producing many national television commercials including those featuring Tony the Tiger for Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes, the Schlitz malt liquor bull and the Man from Glad as well as the original Got Milk campaign.
Goetz was a key figure in building the Assn. of Independent Commercial Producers and was president of the West Chapter and VP of AICP national. In 1992 he was awarded AICP’s highest honor, the Jay B. Eisenstat award, which is for individuals who have helped define the industry through their individual accomplishments and selfless giving through their work on behalf of AICP.

Born in New York City, Goetz graduated from Michigan State U.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandra; four sons and a daughter; and seven grandchildren.
